A flock of parakeets is called a "Pandemonium" and that perfectly describes the green bursts of colorful feathers and loud "rack" sounds of the Monk Parakeets scattering from the Chinaberry tree on the south shore of White Rock Lake near my Dallas home. The parakeets are not native to this area, they are native to South America. They may have been someone's pet that escaped over 20 years ago. Now they nest in the electrical lines and cell towers for warmth and possibly for the pretty lake views.
